Bac pro (BTEC ND) Farm management
Equine breeding and training option
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Over 3 years, acquire general, scientific, technical and economic skills in the management of equine centre management, and then gain access to related higher education programs.
Two types of production will be studied: horse breeding and grazing livestock breeding (cattle, sheep and goat…).
Key competence areas dealt with in this education program:
- Agricultural management: establish an operational diagnostic, define a project, decision making
- Administrative and economic management: analysis of economical and technical results, budget planning and following, technical operation data monitoring
- Cattle or sheep farm management: feeding, reproduction, raising of young animals, hygiene, growth and health
- Horse farm management: feeding, reproduction, raising of young animals, hygiene, growth and health
- Horse training and working: training and breaking young horses
- Managing cultivated and non-cultivated grazing land
BAC PRO (BTEC ND) EUROPEAN SECTION
Motivated students who wish to further their language skills may include the English language European section during their 3 years of studies for the bac pro (BTEC ND).
ENGLISH LANGUAGE EUROPEAN SECTION
The European section of the college, which is open to students from secondary school level onwards, is an essential part of our educational project, which for many years has been committed to international cooperation and the furthering of language skills in its programs. This section does not restrict itself to language skills alone. A large part of the classes are concerned with the history, geography and culture of the country in question. With a certain focus on Europe.

THE COLLEGE'S EUROPEAN SECTION HAS ITS OWN DEDICATED EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
Additional English language courses
Students have two additional hours of English language classes every week. The history, geography, art and culture of the country in question are also raised in addition to the pure language studies.
Courses held in a foreign language (DELE)
In additional to the extra two hours of language courses, the European section also provides weekly hour long courses on a subject (Biological sciences) in English.
Cultural and exchange activities programs with English-speaking countries.
Students of the section will be able to do foreign exchange work placements at the end of the second year.
The European section « qualification» will be indicated on the diploma if the student successfully passes the modern language tests for the language in question.
EUROPEAN SECTION: in addition to the above classes, students which have opted for this section can also take the following supplementary courses:

THE PROGRAM'S ORGANISATION
The program organised to complete two objectives:
- Obtaining the diploma through the acquisition of the professional and methodological skills listed above
- Preparing for further higher education programs, such as the BTSA (HND).
To satisfy these objectives, the following 3 major work axes will be focused on:
- The acquisition of solid general education bases with a concentration on these subjects for students planning on continuing their studies
- Interventions in working farms (horse, cattle, sheep, etc.) over the three years of studies, with a methodological approach to the general management of agricultural enterprises
- International horizons, through work placements in European countries (Erasmus + program) during which students will be able to further their language skills and develop their capacities to adapt and observe. They will also discover further professional methods and techniques.

APPRENTICESHIPS IN FRANCE OR ABROAD
In first year professional - horse-breeding: 7 weeks
- 1 week at the college's equestrian training centre
- 6 weeks (over a number of separate periods)
- in horse-breeding, equestrian centres or agricultural enterprises
In 2nd and final year CGEA: 16 weeks
- 8 weeks in horse-breeding farms (with report)
- 2 weeks in livestock farms (cattle, goat or sheep)
- 2 weeks of specific workplace apprenticeships in either the agricultural or equestrian industry
- 4 to 5 weeks in overseas apprenticeships

- To First year professional: after completing 4th year secondary school education
- To Second year (Bac Pro): after completing a 1st year Professional, 1st year General or a CAPA (NVQ 1,2)
